We are as close as you can get without staying in the park itself. The cabin sits on Parrot Mountain directly above Dollywood. You can see the park through the trees and hear the steam train whistle from our deck. It's a 10-minute drive to the main entrance parking lot.

Yes! While most people get stuck in the mile-long crawl on Veterans Blvd, our street has a dedicated stoplight at the bottom of the hill. When you turn out of our driveway and reach the bottom, you cross directly into the Dollywood parking entrance, skipping 90% of the public traffic flow.

During Dollywood's summer celebration season (typically June through mid-August) and special holiday events like Smoky Mountain Christmas, the park puts on spectacular fireworks and drone shows on select evenings. Our deck at the top of the mountain offers a private front-row seat when they do happen. Check Dollywood's official schedule for exact show dates during your visit.

Parrot Mountain & Gardens is a world-class exotic bird sanctuary that shares the same mountain ridge as our cabin. It's a 5-minute drive from our door and a must-visit for families. Our land actually borders the hundreds of acres owned by the sanctuary.

The cabin is located at the highest point on the street, so there is a mountain climb. The roads are fully paved and well-maintained. While standard vehicles handle it fine in spring, summer, and fall, we recommend 4WD or AWD if you are visiting during active snow/ice events in winter.

Yes. Unlike many 'cabin resorts' where you can reach out and touch your neighbor's wall, Thistle Britches sits on a full private acre. We have no immediate neighbors on three sides, surrounded by hundreds of acres of protected woodland.
